Mental health awareness film for a global industrial company and a national charity

Altrad x CALM

Highlighting the importance of mental health in the industrial sector.

Background

Making mental health as visible as physical safety

In an industry where physical safety is paramount, conversations around mental wellbeing often remain unseen. Altrad, a global leader in industrial services, recognised this imbalance and set out to challenge it. Their ambition was to make mental health and safety as visible and as valued, as physical health and safety.

Challenge

Confronting an invisible challenge

Workers in the industrial sector are four times more likely to die by suicide than the national average.

Altrad and CALM are working together to build confidence, awareness and support around mental health. Because no one should feel invisible when they’re struggling, and no one should have to face their struggles alone.

Approach

Turning a symbol of safety into a catalyst for conversation

Our goal was to create a film that would stop people in their tracks. Powerful enough to provoke thought, yet authentic enough to resonate on a personal level.

We used the hi-vis vest, an icon of industrial safety, as a metaphor for hidden struggles, a visible reminder that safeguarding wellbeing isn’t just about physical protection but emotional too. Through storytelling and symbolism, we aimed to encourage workers to check in with each other, making mental health a conversation that belongs on every site.

With thanks to our partner in this project, Really Good Things, who developed the partnership between Altrad and CALM.
