Southport & Ormskirk Hospital NHS Trust

Helping Southport & Orsmkirk Hospital NHS Trust raise SO many donations.

Background

Funding the extras

Southport and Ormskirk Hospital NHS Trust launched its charity to raise funds that enhance patient care, purchase vital equipment, and support activities beyond what NHS budgets typically allow. The charity comprises five individual funds—four dedicated to specific medical departments and one overarching Sunshine Fund that supports all areas.

To bring this initiative to life, the charity partnered with our Manchester design agency to create a distinctive brand identity and a suite of supporting print materials.

Challenge

Five funds, one goal

The new identity needed to maintain a clear connection to the overarching NHS brand while establishing a distinct and uplifting personality of its own. It was equally important that it reflected the local character of the individual NHS Trust and clearly communicated the five available funds.

Approach

SO much sunshine

The identity, developed by Manchester design agency Future, brought together a cohesive visual language through distinctive logotype styling, custom fund icons, and carefully curated brand photography. As the main overarching fund was named ‘Sunshine’, it was essential that the brand reflected its warmth and positivity. This presented the perfect opportunity to stand out from the predominantly blue NHS branding by embracing vibrant orange and yellow tones drawn from the existing NHS palette.

The abbreviation ‘SO’ was already part of the Trust’s everyday language, commonly seen in hashtags and internal communications. We saw this as a powerful foundation to build upon. Partnering closely with Really Good Things, a specialist strategy and communications consultancy, we developed a distinctive brand language with ‘SO’ at its core.

To support the launch, we created a full suite of materials, including print collateral, branded promotional items, and a range of digital graphics.
