Background

Bold, positive change

Really Good Things is a specialist strategy and communications consultancy, working at the forefront of social and environmental impact. Its clients create bold, positive change, supported by powerful insights, strategy, and communications. For over 20 years, they’ve worked with not-for-profits, responsible businesses and the innovation sector.

As a Manchester design agency, we’ve built a longstanding partnership with Really Good Things. Over the years, we’ve collaborated on numerous projects; therefore, we were delighted when they approached us to develop their brand.

Challenge

Credible without being corporate

Following a new name and refined positioning, Really Good Things needed an identity that lived up to both. Previously, their brand leaned too far into “cutesy,” which underplayed their impressive client roster and reputation as highly specialised strategic thinkers.

Therefore, the challenge was to evolve the brand in a way that reflected their credibility and expertise in driving social change, while still preserving the warmth and approachability that make them so effective. In response, our solution was a confident, considered identity that successfully balances personality with professional weight.

Approach

Making a change for
the better

We delivered a brand that’s simple, clean, cool and most importantly, credible. Designed to resonate with both mission-driven charities and large corporates alike, the new identity reflects the depth and expertise behind Really Good Things.

At the heart of the brand is the asterisk: a defining symbol that brings clarity to what “Really Good Things” stands for; people, places, and causes. Integrated into the logotype, the asterisk also works as a flexible brand stamp across applications.

Typography plays a central role in the system, with a carefully considered pairing of serif and sans serif fonts. This allows for both clarity and emphasis, bringing tone, rhythm, and a touch of personality to communications.

Supporting this is a playful yet professional colour palette and a bold set of custom icons, each representing a core aspects of the business. Together, these elements strike a balance between warmth and authority, giving Really Good Things a distinct and confident voice in the social change space.
